Welcome to Glen Ruth!

The Glen Ruth Droughtmaster Stud is based at Katandra, 100 km south west of Hughenden in North Western Queensland. Katandra consists of about 100,000 acres of Mitchell Grass Downs country and straddles a 450mm rainfall belt. Along with a large herd of 2000 Commercial Droughtmaster breeders, the Glen Ruth Stud herd consisting of 250 registered females, is run by Rob and Donna Atkinson, their daughter Amy and son John.

Also based at Katandra are the Farnham and Cashmere Studs, run by Amy and John respectively.

Our aim is to produce profitable cattle by using old fashioned cattle handling techniques including LSS, combined with modern technology such as AI, ET, IVF, Genestar and Breedplan, as tools to achieve our goals.
